The've never bothered mine, but rabbits might chew on it from time to time, because they sure chew on my A. serpentarias. The worst is armadillos - they'll dig the whole thing up if it's small enough - they've dug up lots of A. serpentarias/Virginia snakeroot and a few A. tomentosas. I don't plant any outside of fenced areas any more - all mine are behind and climbing on my garden fence or on the picket fence around the yard. Sherry |

| I've had the deer work over my A. serpentarias from time to time. Sherry is right in that the rabbits will work on them too. And squirrels, they seem to have an affinity for digging up newly planted roots, you may need to protect them with chicken wire laid horizontal on the ground over the roots. Mice certainly love the seed of the A. serpentaria. Seems like all kinds of wildlife are attracted to it! Rod A. |
