A couple of northern streaks.......

Today was our 8th day of 80 degree plus weather in Minnesota. In my entire life, I don't think that has EVER happened here in October.

I saw FOUR butterfly species in the garden today which is not common here for any time in October...(monarch, sulphur, unknown, and hairstreak.

which brings me to the second streak. I came across a rather cooperative northern hair streak (correct me if I'm wrong) on the boltonia asteroides today.

I actually had time to run in and get my camera!

and even though, the boltonia is in full bloom these two preferred to get cozy

I think our 80 streak will hit 9 tomorrow. This almost makes up for our cold spring! Happy Gardening, Tony

How about a Gray Hairstreak? Nice photos. We are having a wonderful fall and the butts are enjoying it.

hi Sandy, you might be right...they look very similar. Neither is a common butterfly in this area.

81 degrees, sunny, no wind....looks like another bonus butterfly day in Minnesota! Happy Sunday, Tony

I am seeing at least 10 Gray Hairstreaks a day on my Frostweed etc. They are very common here!
Not a good BF day here in North Texas but a BLESSED DAY...we are finally getting a ton of rain...it has been "flooding" since yesterday! I just wish we had more in our forecast for the next 10 days! It all seems to come at once & then not again for weeks!
We need 20 inches to make up for the drought we have had here!

I love all your hairstreak pictures! Unfortunately, gray hairstreaks aren't that common here, certainly not to the degree you're talking about! I saw the weather radar with the big area of yellow, maybe some red in Texas, meaning heavy rain, and was that ever a great sight!
The weather here is beautiful, too, low 80's for high temps, mid-60's for lows. Too bad fall and spring aren't permanent!
I also love that frostweed. Day before yesterday, I got some Agalinis for my buckeyes from a different spot, and there was the prettiest wildflower blooming amongst the other flowers there. I looked it up, and it was purple-topped sneezeweed, which sounds terrible, but it sure was pretty. Those "weeds" can be some of the best!
