There normally are a lot of wings because they use them for projects. OTOH, Monarch Lady is retiring soon so things could be winding down. :( I've had a framed forewing on my keychain from her for a few years. Glass broke on it last month and I was hoping to replace it. Guess that's not happening.

Sarah left us a message (she is in fact at another location than she used to be), referring us to the guy we already talked to (from Live Monarch) who came up with the repair method, but she also mentioned something about using a plastic artificial wing, although I have doubts that would work, as Monarchs need specific aerodynamics for the migrating generation to be able to glide far far above (sometimes a mile) the earth, riding air currants. Might require the scales and other specifics not yet discovered. Too many "unknowns". We will try to get back to her and ask if they might have actual wings to spare. One a good note, a new male Monarch eclosed today with no problems at all. We decided to move the chrysalis indoors at 70-75 degrees, and add a crumpled paper towel underneath to give more perching areas in case it fell. Worked perfectly! We should have a warm enough period for a week or more to be able to tag and release him tomorrow.
