Was surprised when a large C. a. edwardsii female stopped to nectar on my Lantana around noon today. Fresh as a daisy too. She sure brought back memories of my days collecting other alexandra ssp and other Coliadinae
subspecies all through the Rocky, Sierra and Coastal mountains of the western US and Canada. Some rarer subspecies required extreme hikes in the high country and an overnight stay on the trail to get to their small conon ies. Miss those days.
