Anise Swallowtail pupa

Nick Rose

Yesterday while I was looking through my cover crop in my backyard to see if any carrots were ready to be picked I noticed a Anise Swallowtail caterpillar getting ready for its pupa stage. It has attached it self to a stick that I put in the ground as a marker point. This part of the cover crop has carrots, radishes, buckwheat(which has been already cut down), and crimson clover. Then today while I was cutting down some buckwheat in another area of the cover crop area I found another one but has not attached it self to anything it seems to be still eating. This area has buckwheat, crimson clover, Dill(Its only 4" tall because of the Buckwheat being very tall) cereal rye. I just stuck some sticks in the ground near it so when its ready for the pupa stage it can attach itself to the stick.
