so many monarch caterpillars now

I am shocked to see so many of them I have up to 20 right now. Monarch butterflies have gone to Mexico or California whichever, only one or two would stay around. To my surprise as I was watering the garden, I see cats everywhere. So I plucked them all out and is in butterfly safe house so they can be protected from wasps. Amazing.

I was having the same thing. I was running out of milkweed so I stuck mine back on the plants to eat the tiny leaves sprouting out that I couldn't pick. Hope they made it through the last couple of cooler days. I had 5 butterflies emerge yesterday and 6 today. I'm hoping its warmer so I can let them loose outside.

It warms my heart to think of you both still raising Monarch cats. Here in the frozen North, insect activity is a distant memory, except the spiders, who aren't insects, anyway.
