Is there anyone who could plant sit the ones you cant bring for you until spring? Then they could ship them bareroot.

There are also heat packs that you can put in the box before shipping. I have never used them, nor have I received a plant packed with them, so I can't say how well they work. I have seen it as an option when purchasing plants. You may want to look into that if you don't have someone to plant sit for you until spring.

The carry-on sounds quite doable. I'd take them out of their pots and remove the soil, then wrap the plants in tubes of newspaper and pack them in your suitcase. Let's hope you can get them all!

Make sure the plants are on the dry side before you wrap them, as any checked luggage will get chilled out.

I've done something similar when bringing plants from Arizona to Wisconsin.

I bare rooted them and then put them into a plastic container (like a restaurant sized mayonnaise jar) and then packed that in my carry on. Had no problems whatsoever.

I would say you can ship them or carry them on, depending on their size. I order rare succulents online occasionally and live in PA where it is usually colder than their origin. Most of these come bare root. They may get a little wilted from lack of light but always bounce right back once I pot them and put them in the sun.
