Looks like Aloe barbadensis or Aloe chinensis. Flowers will hellp determine which. So lucky you! Hope that is indeed an inflo coming up for you.

No, Aloe plants do not die after flowering.

correct name is Aloe vera... barbadensis now a synonym. Aloe vera var. chinensis is actually a closely related species, but unclear on what the experts have decided what that species is precisely.

Fantastic!!! I repotted 2 yesterday and played with some pictures today.

I was having some issues with ants and them mining out the pots. The dirt was a little heavy anyway. I gave them charcoal, lava stones, perlite, pine nuggets, pine mulch, a touch of sand and a pretty stone mulch. The roots looked great despite the ants.

Oh yeah, and some egg shells for good measure. ;-)
