Crenda, I've found that almost every aloe I have pups near the base of the mother plant. However, my "Pink Blush" pups seek out the edge of the pot before making their appearance like Sansevieria. My Pink Blush also loves to send out pups on flower stalks too.

I have very similar looking aloe that was ID-ed as a. grandidentata possibly maculata.
It pups generously...photo is from about 2yrs ago. All the pups were at the edge of the pot. I separated pups (there were 5 larger ones & I found couple of tiny just sprouting from the roots) and now one of them is pupping. The pup is as far as it could get from mom plant - very edge of the pot.
Mine are all in pots since it's too cold here to grow the in ground.
It never bloomed, I got it in beg. of 2012, there was just one tiny pup showing then.

Aloe saponaria now called Aloe maculata, Crenda. Flowers will tell. It sure looks large enough to flower, so maybe this spring. Maculate (spotted) Aloes are difficult to differentiate a lot of times, so it's often only flowers giving the ID key.

Yes, I am looking forward to flowers. Most of my Aloes are blooming now, but of course not the ones that I need flowers to help with identification.
