| Now that I have your attention, lol. Another plant I have is Talinum paniculatum. I had a mature plant with a sizable caudex, but it died. Before it died it threw seeds all over the place and now they are like a weed to me. Even the seedlings spit seeds. When its time to move the plants inside I wind up pulling these seedlings out of several pots.
Last year I decided if I cant beat em' join em'. This is a really fast grower. The first picture is of the 18 month old caudexes, the second is 6 month seedlings, the last one is 1 month seedlings. I'm going to experiment with these caudexes to see if I can control their shape.
It really is a neat little plant, but it gets into every pot like a weed. Oh, and it also folds up its leaves at night like its praying. The leaves drop in winter then they grow back inside a week. Can't kill it.

I've never heard of this plant, so I googled it. Turns out the plant's leaves are edible and might help relieve inflammation. If your looking to get rid of some, I might be willing to take some off of your hands. ;)

Denise, you have such an array of different types of plants how many other types do you have. I used to landscape my yard with some of the most common plants that most would use in thier landcaping but not anymore it seems that every square inch of space I have has been designated to my cacti and succulent plants. I even have a section in the ground that I use just to store plants kind of like on hold until I figure out what or where to put or pot them. Kind of like, "So many cacti & Succlulents but so little Soil." Lol... Well your little fatties are nice and clean looking and it sounds like they have some healing properties so enjoy them and share the love. Greg

The best we can figure out is that someone in the neighborhood planted bamboo. I looked outside one day and here was this stalk. I thought it was a weed and put off removing it till the next day. The next day it had grown 6 inches. That's when I realized the dreaded truth...bamboo.ugh. So I cut off the top about midway, the center is hollow, and poured roundup down the hole. Next day, stalk was dead and another had popped up a few inches away. Roundup only kills the node that is attached to the stalk. All the other underground nodes keep going! We ended up digging up every node to the fence line every day and getting the neighbors to dig theirs up too. That was what got rid of it.

Talk about Bamboo, I have a wall of bamboo about 30ft. high in my back yard that isnt the type that cannot be controled. I know 30ft tall sounds like it's already out of control Lol... I use it as a wall, kinda like the bamboo curtain, and it is used as a court yard, actually it's very decorative, I'm not selling it HOWEVER! I have seen it at Home depot going for about $50.bucks for a 5 gal. plastic container. I thought my goodness I've got a gold mine in my back yard, the stocks are a little larger than a quarter maybe a little bigger, I have a neighbor whose bamboo is about as round as hard ball, baseball size some even like a softball size, YEAH!!! talk about "Major Bamboo" One thing I will say about this Bamboo that I have is that it can be corraled with sand, thats right awhile back I had brought a bunch of sand from the river bottom for a project I was doing and I noticed it doesnt past that line at all. And at the same time there is another type of bamboo that runs wild in that same river bottom which is a different type all together, It's a white and light green color while mine is dark to medium color green. One last thing, my bamboo's Roots run almost on top of the soil, only about 2", maybe 3" below the surface and is easy to remove and get rid of since I have removed it from another area I've had it in before. Hi Denise, Sorry to drop this on your thread it just seemed to go along with the other bamboo talk. Greg

Denise, Talinum is one I've never had and know even less about, but look at that lovely collection of caudexes! Wow, I do love a growing trunk! From Wikipedia: Talinum is a genus of herbaceous succulent plants in the family Talinaceae (formerly in the family Portulacaceae) whose common names include fameflower and flameflower. Several species bear edible leaves, and Talinum fruticosum is widely grown in tropical regions as a leaf vegetable. Talinum paniculatum is grown as an ornamental plant.
