I don't understand. You're pulling plants out of the ground?

Folks on the Florida Forum have mentioned using blankets instead of sheets for more protection. Hold it down with bricks or something heavy so the blanket won't blow off. Looks like central Florida will have 2-3 hours at 32, so a blanket may be better for your aloe.

If you've had rain lately (like we have) this may be a useless tip, but withhold water when you know a freeze is coming. I hope you don't have damage, but if you do the plant can still be saved if only the outer leaves freeze.

Can you get any swimming pool covering. The winter kind with the air pockets in it. They will be the most insulating kind to use. Blankets are good but not so much when wet.
As far as Sans being out of ground. They could go for months. Keep around 60 to 70 degreens out of draft. I don't see the need in your case.

I pulled Sans out of the ground almost 2 months ago and just set the root balls in a pot. Had to bring the pot inside for these really cold days. Frost will ruin Sans foliage, the damage takes a few weeks to show up. I've not experimented with leaving roots in the ground though the ground does not freeze here either. When you have a warm day, giving it a drink would be OK, but as long as it's below 60 or so, they won't use much water. Picking it up once in a while can let you know if it's gotten lightweight or not. Chunks of ground dirt around the roots will dry very slowly. Pics & more info on Sans forum.

Sans have tough creeping rhizomes, which will survive light freezing but the tops will be ruined.

Yes, but I ment if the ground is warm, just cover them up. In a day or two, uncover and it's warm again. In my zone, I would have to have them pulled up 7 to 8 months out of the year. But I like what Purple is doing. From pots to ground and back to pots. May give this a try this year.
