Hi Ramen girl,

1. That is not an Echeveria, that is a Sempervivum aka Hens and Chicks

2. I believe the leaves pointing down is a sign that the plant is beginning to stretch upwards for more light

3. Your soil mix needs to be mixed with at least 50% perlite to provide adequate drainage

4. Your grouping needs some tweaking. The Haworthias back by the red rock are winter growers, so right now, for you, they are dormant while the other plants need water. If you water the Haworthia too much (in your summer) you risk killing it through root rot.

Others will chime in shortly. Of the plants pictured, I only grow the Haworthias and the Sempervivums, so I can't comment on the care of your other plants.

I have sempervivums as well & I move them around the garden a lot =D (summer and spring in NY when they come back to life).

Since they root so readily, I pull off pieces and stick 'em all over the place. I've found that when they start to put out lots of roots, the bottom leaves will do this thing you're describing. I've never viewed it as a bad thing. I always took it as a sign that they were taking hold in their new location.

They look balled up, kind of like the ones you've got there in the pic, but once roots are established, the lower leaves kind of flatten out & seem to push against the earth.

That P. afra is a winter grower too I think, and I've read that Aeoniums are also.

I have both of the ones I see pictured here as well. Cuttings taken in November are outpacing the temporary styro-foam coffee cup I put them in. Woops. (shaking fist, damn you gritty mix).

Same with that tree aeonium you've got there.
