With all those pebbles it must be kind of hard to tell if the dirt below dried out- any pictures from the side of the pot?

Could offer some insight on the glass bowl having drainge ?

A second thought is how ever many bumbs there are on the ride from Sunnyville Fla to C&S Sitter Service SC may have had a big effect on any root that they already had.

How long have you had this pot of plants? I wondered if this is a sudden change. It sounds like too much water. Does the pot have a drainage hole? What kind of mix is it in? And how much sunlight does it get? (sorry for the 3rd degree!)

Unless I am going to be gone for longer than 2 weeks, I don't have anyone look after my plants. They will do better without watering while I am gone than being accidentally overwatered by someone trying to help. (You don't blame the friend, but I inferred that may have been part of the problem.)

As mentioned above, this sounds a lot like a combination of over-watering and improper drainage. If you want what is left to survive I would recommend letting them dry out and repotting them into something with a drainage hole. A lot of people will tell you to use a cacti mix for soil but I used Miracle-Gro Moisture Control mixed with perlite.
