I don't but when I was looking for ones I ended up finding a group on Facebook for Kansas City. Some kind of cacti and succulent society that uses Facebook to get a group together for shows. They might have one for New York. Unfortunately I'm too far away from K.C. so I didn't get to go yet.

You might want to check out the Cactus and Succulent Society of America's website for additional information regarding local shows. Click on "Calendar" and "List" which should become more populated as other shows register their dates.

There is an NYC cactus and succulent club, and I know there's usually a cactus exhibition at the Philadelphia Flower Show. In the link is a list to all of the clubs in the world.

I am reminded by a missed member that Connecticut has hot pockets of succulentism, perhaps in Danbury, which I personally know to be a site for Scrabble competitions. Wouldn't it be great if they combined the two!

A Scrabble competition that only allowed names of cacti and succulents! That sounds fierce and difficult to adjudicate.

Aeonium (has all the vowels, too!), Rebutia, and Bursera are three that come to mind readily - give me my 200 points.

Oh you'll get your points for those. Then some wise guy puts down "euphorbia" on the triple word score and you'll correctly holler "They are not all succulents!" (alternatively, "Their not all succulants!") Before you know it, there is Mad Max music, mano a mano and ...you know, I'll actually pay to see that.

Does it have to be a show? I was excited to learn that many colleges/universities have greenhouses to view..... I want to see the UMass Amherst collection, I'd be happy to just take pics, or learn of some new types. Plus the nice thing is usually they aren't crowded & may talk to a gardener that cares for the collection.

I think with shows you might be able to buy stuff. Never been to one though. I know I went to some excellent greenhouse near Pomfrit, Connecticut. Not sure if that's near Danbury.

The cactus society might have field trips to collectors homes announced. I know collectors here clean out their Babies at an open house, and that is always a treat.. I know the one down here does sometimes.

'clean out their babies' is what I do after my dog rolls in a deer carcass.
