Looks like a hybrid with Aloe striata in the mix - there are a lot of hybrids and a lot of hybrids with A. s. as one parent.

After looking at images, I think you are right. Aloe striata hybridized with something spotty with spiny edges. Here's the photo during repotting after 3 months of root growth. Hardy little hybrid!

That plant wants to go in the ground! Aloe striata is such a cold hardy aloe. It is mostly cold hardy for Austin. I cover it for the really fridgid cold fronts. It could be a hybrid with A. maculate. The maculate shows up in the blooms. Their is a bunch of that mix around. I have some but my leaves are fatter. That could be because it has more sunlight. Has yours been in the shade? I know that aloe maculata's leaves will get a lot strappier if grown in the shade. The A. maculata might be more dominant in yours. This one was actually labeled A. maculate in the store. Oh well. It is labeled "mystery aloe but I am pretty sure it is a Striata/ maculate hybrid.

More likely to be straight Aloe maculata(synonym A. saponaria), that has been grown in lower light so the spotting is not as vivid, and the leaves are more narrow than normal. Although the narrower foliage is more typical when grown in wetter summer climates with higher humidity. Aloe striata has no spines on the leaf edges, but could possibly be one parent of this plant too.

Definitely not straight A . maculate. It is a hybrid and the thorns are on a slight ridge and are MUCH smaller that the A maculate. I have them also for comparison. I have grown this out in the sun and the spots did not come out any more.

sure looks like an Aloe maculata x striata to me (very popular and common hybrid).
