Albuca ID?

Here's a picture of an albuca that I've had for~a year, on the left, ID'd by someone very knowledgeable as namaquensis, next to one just purchased on ebay, also billed as namaquensis. Is it possible to have this much variation in one species? I'm beginning to think that naming some of these plants is a confidence game--say it with confidence, and they'll believe you? They're both in flower, so I'm still going to try crossing them, which was my original intention...
