Some people fertilize year round, others during growing season. I fertiliizer during growing season.

Once I see new growth, plants are fertilized with quarter-strength dosage. As summer approaches, plants, including Epis get half-strength.

Do you know which Epi variety you bought? Some Epis are summer bloomers..
I'd start with standard cactus fertilizer, then 'depending on bloom time,' alternate or apply flowering fertilizer.

To be honest, I rarely fertilize Epis. When they get a dose, they're fertilized with acidic fertilizer and 1 teas of vinegar water, twice a year..During summer.

Epis are summered outdoors..it's very windy here, so more often than not containers tip over, mediums fall out of the pot. When I mix fresh mediums, I sprinkle All-Purple fertilize in the blend.

Hi Toni, the only thing I know is they are not the night flowering variety. One is Rose queen and the other is campfire. Thank you for all your great advice. There is new growth starting on them now so I will start giving them a quarter strength dose and up it in the warmer months. Hey if I manage to get a flower I will post a pic. Don't hold your great tho ha ha

I'm terrible naming Epis, although I have several. lol.

My Night Blooming sometimes sprouts flowers in Feb, but they're 1-2 inches then drop off. This variety took at least 10-years before its first flower.

My book says low-nitrogen fertilizer before and after bloom.

Some epic bloom in spring. They will need a diluted no nitrogen fertilizer during the late winter early spring, but otherwise I start in the spring. and fertilize till fall.
