It's only the people who grow them that are confused, rather than the plants (I count myself #1 on that list). If they're winter-growers, they'll adapt to here, but they might take a season off. It will take them a little while to get accustomed to our seasons above the equator, but they'll be poking their little green shoots up around September (assuming they weren't in leaf already. After you do pot the bulbs up, and until they start growing, give them a sip about once a month.

Which Albucas did you get? I have I think 4 species, and only A. 'Augrabie Hills' and A. setosa stay in leaf year around - they really like the outside in the summer, but they seem to also grow in winter, albeit at a reduced pace, as long as they get some sun and warmish temps. You'll enjoy them I'm sure.

From SA I'm getting bulbs of albuca concordiana, gethyllis spiralis, and boophone disticha, plus a few seeds including aloe polyphylla, a.spiralis and a.unifolia. I like challenges. Of the seeds, only the aloe will be started this spring, and the grower says to wait on the others til fall.

I have plants of a.namaquensis (which was sold to me as a.spiralis), and a.setosa, both of which are in flower, and have been doing great. I'm one of the many who go for weird plants....
