Astrophytum myriostigma...water?

Howdy,

Last November I found variegated Astrophytum on Ebay. I purchased two, and my dear brother bought me a third.

What I didn't know, Astrophytums were not rooted.

When they arrived, they were colorful balls of green, orange, pink and yellow, without roots.

A couple days after arrival, I placed Astro's, upsidedown, on an end-table under a regular lamp.

Because of personal problems, I neglected plants...
About 3-weeks ago, I noticed roots..Other than spraying roots during daylight hours, I left plants, as is, on their 'backs,' so roots faced light bulb.

When roots grew 4+-inches, I decided to pot all three in a shallow container. 2-3 weeks ago.

Problem is since potted, I haven't watered. I fear they will rot.

Any advice? Should I water or wait until spring?

BTW, I had a couple, baby Astrophytums in the past.
The brightest room has south, west and north windows, artificial light but is quite cold. Cold with multiple air leaks.

Should I water, and if so, via the top or soak in a bucket? What about room temp? Thanks, Toni

Astrophytums, when I noticed baby roots.

Notice, Astrophytums lost most variegation? Sheesh!
