Kakanchoe leaves problem

Last summer this plant was growing gloriously and was making a pup. As winter has progressed, the leaves have begun to wither and die. They were getting a lot less sun with winter, so I moved them to a location that they'd get the most in my yard, but it didn't seem to help. Does anyone have any advice?

Kakanchoe is what I called K. gastonis-bonnierii, because it never, ever grew well for me, despite several attempts and acknowledged (at least in San Diego Home and Garden magazine) mastery of The Kalanchoe. Go figure... Penny, for some sun-loving K. l. / t. (whatever that one is) their best looks are when the sun is the greatest - like me, they don't look their best in the winter. You can see the new growth, so it's growing, it's just not happy. Just a seasonal thing, IMO (speaking as someone who never, ever grew this species, kind-of oddly enough).

My experience with these is the same and I think Jeff nailed it. Mine are not at their best right now and they've also been chewed on! These guys don't need all that much sun to show their color, 4 hours will do it, maybe less. I'm not sure if any more than 4-5 hours will help it grow any better. I treat most Kalanchoe as shade lovers with just a few being slightly more bold. K. luciae or thyrsiflora, in my experience, love to be in the ground. They do just fine in pots but with enough room for happy roots to spread out, (and the right spot) they go crazy.

Yes, it is still growing, just getting ugly! Good to know that it is probably just a normal thing. Thanks. The stem is getting tall and is bare. When I repot it, can I bury the stem? I was thinking of separating the pups, but perhaps I'll just leave them there to grow up and hide that bare stem if I can't bury it.

When I repot it, can I bury the stem? No, leave it at the same level. Eventually it will begin to elongate and then bloom and then die. Leave the pups until the original plant dies, and then dig them up, separate, replant.
