Thank you Josh!! I've looked up to you for sometime now, here on GW.

Those are lovely. I have a christmas/thanksgiving cactus who is currently throwing out flowers like no one's business. Can I ask what your water regimen is during this time? I do it very sparingly.

@TheGumbieCat: I only water every three weeks regardless, and they're all in a south facing window and have thrived there for a long time. To the rest of you, you have beautiful plants. Remember, they key to growing these is in all bark; or mostly bark compound. They don't like their roots wet, as they do grow on tress and let their roots hang down.

mine is in a poor sand, rock, perelight mix with about an inch of pebbles at the bottom. Leave it in a tray for moisture and only water after the tray and dirt has gone bone dry.

Gumbie, Greg is right....potting these plants in a mostly bark or purely bark mix makes growing them so much easier.

This has been a fantastic Winter for blooms....my Christmas Cactus continues to throw out blooms.

@TheGumbieCat You may want to rethink that mix. Again all bark (or mostly bark) works best, as these plants grow on trees and let their roots hang down. When you do water them don't be light on the water, but give them time to dry out as well. They can get root rot really fast if are left in constant moister.

Well, it would be foolish to ignore more experienced growers, plus I have a bag of bark on the porch from a rescue orchid.

So...if it's kinda like orchids, has anyone tried one in hydroton, or are the roots to delicate? (Orchid roots are pretty impressive)
