what is this

hello i collect many.different types of.plants but i dont know anything about cacti. My brother in law bought me this little guy. I potted.it.up in.some coarse potting mix assuming it like.sharp drainage but.id.like.to know.what it is. Does anyone know?

I think it is something like Stenocereus dumortieri, and like most cacti, it has other names (Isolatocereus dumortieri, for instance).

Thank you for the ID i think you nailed it. So it will be a little tender here (im in texas 8b, maybe 9a) and eventually get quite large if i protect it.
