That has happened to me on new succulent purchases as well. Make sure not to over water and wait for new growth out of the center. Bottom leaves will eventually fall off and new growth from the middle will take over. Keep it in strong direct sunlight if possible (avoid late afternoon intense heat) and only water when soil is very dry. Bottom leaves will almost start to slightly wrinkle when its past due for a drink. Always better to underwater than to over water these guys as chance of rot is always high.

What kind of a mix is this potted in?

Thanks Calzoner. I'm not exactly sure what mix this was potted in. I haven't changed it.
Anyway, I can't tell if my plant is healthy or not. Did the leaves from your succulent turn upright with just direct sunlight? I really don't want it to die.

I bought it from ikea and all the plants there were kept indoors. The soil wasn't wet when I bought it. I've watered it two times since then (letting the water run out from the bottom and drying the excess). My succulent is also kept indoors near the window where the sun hits. I don't understand the rapid downturn.

Re. "near the window:" how far is it from plant to window? What side of the house is the window on? Does the Sun ever shine directly on the leaves?

The leaves are trying to get themselves as much light exposure as possible by curving downwards. The plant is not getting as much light as it would like.

It is literally on the windowsill (no curtains). Should I just transfer it outside and expose it to more sunlight?
