Short answer: Yes. Long answer: You'll need to use a masonry drill bit to place at least one hole in the bottom. Depending on the size of the bit, you may want more than one hole. Drill from the outside in until the tip of the bit barely pokes through on the inside. Now drill from the inside to finish the hole. This will help with excessive chipping of the pot and make a cleaner hole.

Will you show us a pic when you have potted them up please? I've seen bonsai trees planted in a similar fashion at big gardening shows with several 'trees' in a row, each one slightly different in height...and they looked really good. This sounds like a really interesting project, good luck. Are you using regular jades or a cultivar?

Hi Chuy, looks like you have the beginning of a real forest in a dish there! They look really fresh and healthy so should do well for you. Nice to see they are the small leaved kind too as you will be able to keep them in proportion with the dish far easier I think.
