Hi, first your dog - bad dog. My dog digs up buried bulbs in search of voles.

Second, your jade - is that a slice of stem/trunk? I think they can propagate that way (I've never tried) but it would have to be drier, IMO, than yours has been. As it is, stem slices are not home slices....wait, stem slices, if that's what that is, are not the best way to propagate this species - leaves / branches / whole trunks are. OTOH, the Crassulaceae are known to propagate from about anything, so I'd give it another try, but in a drier medium. You should not water that which has no roots.

Third, it's nice to know you're a lady (not making judgements, just semi-informed decisions) - since you're posting here more, and that's good, I like to know a fundamental fact like that when I engage in conversation.

Maybe a better picture of your cutting/slicing would help me with those questions about the cutting. Just know you've set yourself a higher bar than usual to jump over.

No ice on the birdbath here for two consecutive days - we're going for three!

Jeff- it is a cutting - well... There were several places of the mother jade that were cut off and became the cuttings I received! Well well- shame on my dog again.... Ggrrrr! He did it again. But I'm leaving it alone for a couple days to let them dry out some more.

Clean and re-cut, sprinkle with cinnamon, let dry again. I would also suggest a LOT more coarse perlite in that mix you're using....unless you can add something really gritty like pumice, lava rock (scoria), turface, or DE.

And a smaller pot, too, if you have one. Crassulaceae cuttings, IME, root better in sparer pot confines.

.....and put it somewhere the dog can't reach, maybe on a shelf...unless it's a very looooooooong legged dog!

Agree, trim it off so it's not moldy. You can actually spray the cut surface with Lysol, let it sit a day or so, and retrim it.
