| I bought this Sempervium in February and it has decided to grow. Can any one help ID it for me? One little pup broke off so I set it in the shade to see if it'd root.

| What a cute thing! I'll take a crack at it...S. arachnoideum v. rubrum. |
|
| Rosemarie, how do you do it? LOL. Anyway, slightly OT but I didn't know those things were pups. I thought it was a flower! I have only one semp and it's pretty new. |

| Lauren, I do not know for certain that ID is correct. I am guessing based on characteristics I see & searching the Internet! The little bits of cobwebs make me think of species arachnoideum, and variety/forma rubrum seemed to fit. But I am not sure. :) Those little things are how this genus gets its common name Hens & chicks!! |

| Rosemarie, thanks for your help! I think I misspelled it. Is it "Sempervivum?" Anyhow, the S. arachnoideum seems right, but the 'rubrum' is totally red, or at least the photos I was able to see were. There are so many of the Semps. that it is hard to tell one from another. I found a couple that were red and green, but I need to wait until it gets a little older to tell for sure. Penny |
