It was in a stock pot. I had to whack the roots pretty significantly. Lots of thick, tuberous roots on these plants. I am hoping for a speedy recovery.

Cycads are Gymnosperms and, like conifers such as pines and cedars, produce cones. That's what those things are...;-).

That is one magnificent pot & I've seen some serious pottery over the years. What kind of stain is that? Is the firing some kind of Raku-related technique?

Appreciate the kind word! It's a stain concoction I came up with using black iron oxide and fired in an electric kiln.
