Most importantly you'll want to find a shady spot for your tree to transition outdoors. I imagine that even in the UK the sun could burn the leaves. For the rain, perhaps you could just make a sort of "bib" out of plastic or cardboard to slip over the top of the pot on rainy days...but still allowing any moisture to run out of the drainage holes.

Hi Josh thanks for your advice. One thing I hadn't thought of was transitioning it in the shade, so that I must do. Yep I shall try and invent something to just slip over the top of the soil

Oh, haha! A Jade plant! I forget that Jade are sometimes called Money Plant, too. I was thinking Pachira :-) Anyhow, finding shade won't be nearly as important for a Jade plant. Should transition without an issue.
