B_C, Relax my friend everything is gunna be ok as a matter of fact your closer to the answer than you might think. Your net step is to just dip it in some cactus soil, fast draining mix and your good to go.

As far as the name BINGO you named it too so not bad for a find just strolling down the road in Frisco.

Wow wish i was lucky to find this just by walking down the street, shoot I'd be happy enough to find one in this condition at a store! Lucky YOU! All YOU gatta do now is throw some fast draining soil into a nice sized pot and plant him up ans *boom* You got an awesome NEW plant!

Cut the stem up closer to the green area and simply sink it in soil. No need to be fussy as they grow in sand to clay. Rich soil will give you better results. I have a garden full of them. The photo is of starts in rich clay in a side well by the house that is shady most of the day. I have them planted in the cracks of a wall garden, another plot in regular soil, and another in plot in gravel with soil over the top. If you leave them they get tall and put forth aerial plants along the stem and in the main cluster which can be cut to start new plants. I use a bamboo rod to punch holes in the soil to plant the cuttings. Super easy and tough. Protect from repetitive freezes. Mine die back a little when its chilly in winter, but they come back. What a find for you.

They do well in protected spots too. Those I have in that get a little heat from concrete walls are really happy. And I do water them often so they don't get parched looking.

Know that these are primarily winter growers and don't want much water, if any, during summer. The CA coast has perfect weather (usually) for them, as the primary rainy season is in the winter.

Depends on your climate... where I live its really dry and these suffer when it's that hot and dry... I water them a LOT in summer (almost daily) and they really appreciate it... still never look as good as in winter, though
