That's not scale anyway. That looks more like worms / slugs / snails / pecking or biting damage to me, but scale it is not.

Just asking, are you referring to the rings around the open wounds or the open wounds themselves? I believe Kittie mentioned she removed the hard spots that she found and it looks like the removal left open wounds behind. I am just asking out of clarification. ;)

The wounds themselves. And those wounds, if they are spots where she removed scale, are too large and the pattern too irregular to be scale, IMO. But thanks for asking, as I hadn't read it correctly in the first place.That 'flaking' is just an epidermal response to damage, something you'd expect to see from an injury from a variety of sources.

Okay great... so it must have been some kind of scarring i pulled off.. it just looked weird. Should have taken a picture first but i freaked! I kno, i kno. ...i should chill. But they were like this hard thing with a little hard worm like thing sticking outta the middle...hard to explain. But i used alcohol and cleaned the wound then used some ground cinnamon to coat the wound itself.

"Worm like thing"? I think a picture of before you removed the scabs would have helped (as you stated), as that sounds perplexing and I'm not even sure what to think the "scabs" were. I've never seen scale with a "worm like thing" coming from the center, so it doesn't sound like scale (as Jeff also stated). I hope that whatever your cactus had, it's gone for good.
