Can you put it in a sunny window? Let it regrow leaves for a month or two, then re-pot into a coarse textured mix made up of stuff like Perlite, pumice, scoria, turface, small gravel, et cetera.

If the trunk is still firm, it would survive.

Wow, I have never seen such an abused Jade in all my days...Your roommate thought he knew more about plant than he did...

Follow Josh's advice and it might be saved. Sufficient bright light is one of the keys to good growth.

worst case scenario we grow this plant at my work ( I am almost certain) along with hobbit and ET.... I could ship you a new one.

The plant now doing well it sits in the window and seems happy but has no roots left really i don't know how it has new growth i took it out of the window for a picture so u can see it. What do i have to do to get a healthy. Root system

It's looking very bad. Did you change out the potting mix?

No roots left at all? You might just want to rinse the area where the roots should be, dry with a paper towel, and then pot in a cup of pure Perlite.

It is new potting mix its better then the withered stick it was what will putting it in a cup of pure perlite do?

Is it green like in the original picture? I feel like it'd look a lot nicer without flash for one thing. Try showing a better picture taken in good light with flash off.

Hate to say it, but honestly if you like this type of plant, you might be better off tossing it. Then read up on care of Crassula ovata, and buy a new one at minimal cost. They are not difficult to obtain at the cost of a few dollars.
