Please help with identification and other question

I rescued this from a buddy around 9 years ago and three years ago it flowered for the first and only time. I haven't been able to identify it as of yet and have only come close with visual comparison by looking at pictures. However i cant seem to find anything exactly like it. Does anyone have any ideas? My other question is since this picture was taken my cactus has developed what appear to be superficial brown scarring in various spots on the surface. I was wondering if anyone had any idea of what causes this so i can avoid any further damage it may sound silly but im very fond of it and really would like to know more about it...thank you to anyone that can help :-)

Tis' a Gymnocalycium horstii.
Could you possibly provide a pic of the brown scarring? It could be anything, such as bugs, or aliens.

i appreciate the input, i was looking at Gymnocalycium buenekeri...what would differentiate that from the horstii? here is a pic of the scarring...i feel like such a bad parent :,-(

could this be from the sun?....its been there for a couple years now and hasn't gotten any worse and ive never seen any pests on it. who woulda thought...a cactus that cant handle the NY sun :-P

Gymno buenekeri is very nearly identical to horstii. I dont know the exact difference, and it could be either one, but my guess would just be a color difference with buenekeri being the blur of the two.
Id say your cactus scaring would be nothing to worry about. Maybe a cut or bumb caused it a while ago, and if it isnt getting any worse it should be fine and heald now.. Dont worry, your a good cactus parent!
