That is Chamaecereus aka Peanut Cactus. Those buds are new growth, and those will make new plants. Wait a little bit longer tough.

Btw, if they bloom yellow will you consider to trade with me? I have one bloom orange.

I have several huge pots of these cuties. Right now they are several feet long. I just cut some off, let dry a few days and stick in the soil. We're in the high desert with temps in the 100s most summer days. I keep these outside and water every week or so. They winter outside in the freezing temps, rain and snow. Haven't lost one yet. I love the bright orange flowers. But I am also willing to trade if your's blooms a different color. Whatever....enjoy!
