I had what I thought was a pereskia because of the evil thorny stem (1st 2 pics) but when the foliage came in it looks nothing like my other pereskias (3-5).
I was given an unknown euphorbia.

Karyn, the Euphorbia may be Monadenium richii(sp). Although there a Euphorbia that looks like Monadenium but can't recall its name.

I guess it must be some sort of pereskia. It was a bare 5' long thorny stick growing in the back of the greenhouse this spring so I cut it up and replanted the cuttings and then the foliage developed. I can't remember when I got it or what it looked like before. It was one of those plants that went unnoticed until it stabbed me. I'll wait and see if I get blooms. Thanks for the euphorbia ID.

'It was one of those plants that went unnoticed until it stabbed me.' What a great opening line to a C&S novelist (True Bad Soil Makers and Harbourers of Mealy Bugs genre).
