I had what I thought was a pereskia because of the evil thorny stem (1st 2 pics) but when the foliage came in it looks nothing like my other pereskias (3-5).

On the plant in the first 2 pix, perhaps Pereskia diaz-romeroana.

Here is a link that might be useful: young one

Karyn, the Euphorbia may be Monadenium richii(sp). Although there a Euphorbia that looks like Monadenium but can't recall its name.

I guess it must be some sort of pereskia. It was a bare 5' long thorny stick growing in the back of the greenhouse this spring so I cut it up and replanted the cuttings and then the foliage developed. I can't remember when I got it or what it looked like before. It was one of those plants that went unnoticed until it stabbed me. I'll wait and see if I get blooms. Thanks for the euphorbia ID.

'It was one of those plants that went unnoticed until it stabbed me.'

What a great opening line to a C&S novelist (True Bad Soil Makers and Harbourers of Mealy Bugs genre).

Hi karyn, The plants you gave me are just now starting to grow. Holy cow. I thought I might have messed up. Then with the hot days unpond us they started to pick up and grow.
Thanks again.
