This looks grittier than my mix already, since I only have perlite and c&s soil. Where do you obtain your crushed lava rock?

A local nursery actually had it in roughly a gallon bag, I believe for a top dressing. I already bought a bag of floor dry before your response it's just now to decide if I should stress it more by reporting or just let it be. If it looks good I will let it be. I'm only nervous about this newest cactus since it seems to be a rather rare species

Looks like a good standard C&S mix. If i had your ingredients I would skip the soil and would just use perlite, crushed rock & floor dry. Then you would have a real gritty mix. You could add some fir or pine bark if you want some organic material in there as well.

What kind of plant is it, rare is a relative term & some vendors use it as a marketing ploy when it' untrue. So pls. what kind of plant is it?

Stressing a plant by repotting is overrated & overstated, sometimes the plant really needs it & the greater stressor is NOT repotting.

It is a small Mammillaria crucigera, quite small but still a pretty little fellow. I already have quite a lot of that mix so i may just add a bit of floor dry to it and call it good. It shouldn't really be difficult to repot as i just potted it and is still dry to allow any root damage to callus.

I went ahead and repotted with the floor dry, in my opinion it looks a lot better and I went to one size smaller pot while I was at it.
