Beautiful--where is the conservatory? I will be in the South Suburbs at the end of July and would love to drag my dh there :-)

It is the Potawatomi Conservatory in South Bend, IN. It only takes about an hour or so to walk through and I believe is $3 per adult. The hours I think are 10-4 during week and 10-3 on Saturday. I'd say South Bend is probably about 1.5-2 hours from Chicago plus a time change so it would be a bit of a trip for you but we also have an awesome zoo right across the street!

That may be too much of a road trip for DH. Unfortunately the zoo isn't a draw--he's decided in his old age that he can't stand to see animals pent up. I personally think that he just doesn't want to go to any more zoos :-)
