Was it a moon cactus/ ruby ball?

What type of soil was it in?

It is a globe shaped cactus not a moon cactus. I'll try to post pictures.

My soil mix is for cacti & succulents with added perlite & pumice.

Perlite AND Pumice? Don't know of them being used together, it's usually one or the other.

Am guessing if you only had it a couple of months & it collapsed & was hollow, sounds like it was already in trouble when you got it. Hollow wouldn't happen in such a short time, I don't think.

I'm glad you told me of perlite & pumice not being used together. I don't use much perlite. hopefully picture attached.

Sorry emee, but that thing looks deader than a doornail. I agree with Karen aka pirate_girl...I think it was in a bad way when you got it. I know you said that THIS one was a gift, but for your own knowledge, I'd avoid buying plants with the glued rocks in the future. If you can't see the soil the plant is potted in, you haven't a clue as to what is going on underneath the rocks. Also, and I don't believe that this is what happened with your plant, when you repot, let the plant rest a few days before watering.
