how do you change a jades plants color.... confused.

Okay, so, here is my rant about the color changes with Jade plants like Campfire, Hummel Sunset, etc..
I get a mixture of advice whether via internet or forum. I was told that color changes with cold temps, sun exposure, drought, lack of fertilizer, Monday and Thursdays (that last one is a joke). Okay so collecting all of the advice together, I would have to plainly conclude that it is anything that would stress the plant out can make the plant change color. Would I be correct?
The soil to use I understand is based on climate, region and preference to the plant owner. Buy and use what suits you. The only thing in question about that is what is used for my region but I think I may have that now. I am using turface and grit with a little fertilizer here and there.

So now that I have said my peace, go for it and tell me what you have learned and what works for you.
