Desert Rose~~Can it be root purned this time of year??

I notice today roots coming out of the bottom of the pot. This plant is in gritty mix and has been growing like crazy this summer . I even did a chop back at the beginning of spring.

Is it OK to prune back the roots now, or should I wait till fall?

It is currently in a 6" pot and I planned on keeping it in it.
