Can this Jatropha be saved?

I was wondering why my J. berlandieri hasn't put on much growth yet, so I unpotted it and found that a good portion of it was getting soft. I amputated the soft tissue and dusted the remains with cinnamon. Is there any hope it will continue to grow? If so, what is the best way to proceed from here?

I say yes, but I'd wash off that cin. and use Rootone, making absolutely sure that the rot's gone and (2) bottom heat, bottom heat, bottom heat in pure pumice/granite until you see new grow. Spritz only.

Thank you, cactusmcharris, I was hoping you would see this and reply! :) I have some granite, and a heat mat, so I will try your suggestion and see what happens. Poor thing looks like a cut up potato right now.
