It is a doable thing, IIRC, but bottom heat is muy necessito (the warmer pad to a waterbed is right useful for this).

Can they root in the darkness of my house? The only place that i could think of that would provide bottom heat would be above the air vents of my Fios T.V. box. lol

I've never heard these weren't rootable before. Maybe try dipping then in Superthrive or Biotone powder first. I would think your climate 9 would he sufficient for "bottom heat". You'll just have to put it in a media that can retain heat. Get you a black deep pot. Fill bottom with some cow manure(it retains and amplifies heat) but be sure it drains. Whatever else you use for media will need some rocks added to the top at least because these will also help to hold in the heat. I should think that would be hot enough. If not, then I suppose you could build a little hot box outside but this is a bit more work. Good luck, keep us posted.

My experience with these guys is best entitled "melting pseudolithos" (they haven't ever liked my summer treatment) so you probably shouldn't listen to me, but my two cents is to be very picky about your medium and heat + water at the wrong time = why I was out $$ on several past occasions.

What about if i put them into my greenhouse? Maybe under some shaded part, but still in the immense heat of it? The thing about P. mccoyi is that it breaks off in little arm like sections, not like big chunks of the others, so i would assume a arm would be easier. i dunno. lets see how this goes.

Now why didn't we think of that before? That would be an excellent place to get them rooted again. Native, Somali-like conditions wouldn't be too far from the truth there, I reckon.

I dont really know! i kinda forget about my greenhouse in summer. Ill put it in there and see what happens. maybe mist it every so often. hopefully these things root up. id be nice to have a bunch of little Pseudolithos to cross pollinate!

Shaded area in the GH that isn't cooled would probably do the trick but watch the humidity.
