Bloody dogs!

So turns out my new aloe cutting looked way to much like a stick to resist :( I don't know if I can save it now. It had roots and more growth, now well.... anyway question is should I even trying saving it?
P.s. this is why I have to get my plant stands done. See what happens when things are left at ground level :(

Are you sure that was an Aloe? They don't usually have stick like stems like that. Seems like another plant altogther. I doubt there's enough to even try, sorry.

The larger section, they thankfully left alone, looks a lot like aloe. Yeah it was a funny plant, like grows in chunks then throws a runner and grows another chunk of plant. The colouration is weird so I haven't been able to tie down an ID. The pic attached is the surviving one. Agave maybe?
