Normal aging of old leaves.

So this is normal...? Over time, more and more are turning brown, faster than the plant seems to be growing. Is this a sign I should prune it down (or rather, take out some babies)?

It is normal for the outer leaves to die off and turn brown. Some of this may be due to the leaves getting too much sun. Let's see what others say.

I was also going to say it's probably normal, but Howard's mention of possibly too much sun makes me wonder that as well. It almost appears that some of the leaves look like they've had too much sun (I see some spotting on the leaves). Where do you keep this Haworthia light wise?

Beth, I'm not certain but I think it is grown in a western window and you know how scorching late afternoon sun can be!

Aye, bikerdoc5968. It's in a western-facing window, obscured by a couple other plants. That would make sense, though, since I hadn't changed anything and the seasons would be one variable I have no control over.

Maybe I'll see if I can find somewhere that gets a little less sun.

Haworthias are more lower light succulents (when compared to Aloes). Your West window could be too intense. It's summer now and the temperatures are hot, hot. Update us on its progress.

Sometimes when you see a lot of dry leaves suddenly appear at the base, it's because the roots are not doing well. Check to see if a lot of the roots have turned brown and hollow. It just might need to get cleaned and repotted and kept in more shade for a bit.

Root damage was my first thought. Went to repot it and was shocked to find long, white, healthy roots.
