Is this a small Aloe aculeate? Doesn't seem quite the same, but maybe since it is small and out of the sun. Hopefully not a hybrid. It was overpriced but I liked the healthy green with the red teeth,

Could be Aloe broomii. =)

RE: Aloe ID

Thanks! That does seem to be spot on.

A "Mountain Aloe"... superficially similar to my Agave, Agave montana "Mountain Agave".

RE: Aloe ID

They are both green rosettes with mountain in their name..

Aloe broomii - winter grower, summer dormant, old world, repeat bloomer

Agave montana - summer grower , winter dormant, new world, dies after blooming

But if it is way to cold in the winter and too hot in the summer where you are, they are both opportunistic growers and they will both grow in the spring and fall. I find A. montana easy but I find A, broomii hard. It gets black rot in the summer and I loose the outside leaves. The plant does not grow for me. I sure would like to know the secret for growing it in Texas. Most aloes like me.
