Possible rot??

I purchased a terrarium with 3 different cacti in it about a year ago. It was already potted & came decorated with rocks and moss. Today I took the moss out to add more soil and noticed that the one side of my cactus that was touching the moss is yellowish and a bit soft. Now that the moss is out for good will my cactus be fine or do I need to take it out and re-pot it or cut the discolored part away? The rest of the plant is healthy and looks/feels fine.

I'm no cactus expert but usually when there's sign of distress and especially if the plant is already partially rotting, you need to check the health of the root system. I would suggest you take a few pics of the roots of this cactus and see what people suggest. Best of luck!

I would loosen up those roots a bit and repot them into better soil medium. You can find tons of info. on potting mix here. I think your cactus is save-able, but I'm no roots doctor..
