A. schwartzkopf &/or A. atropurpurem are the red-black Aeoniums (spelling is off). Should come up on most searches for Aeonium, not rare, but need maximum light to keep that color.

I have always wanted an aeonium, I call them tree echeverias, they are so beautiful. They are also called desert rose but that confuses me because my Adenium obesum is desert rose

The giant, dark-colored ones are Catlin hybrids. A few are 'Voodoo', 'Cyclops' & 'Velour'. They are not always easy to find, but sometimes you'll come across them at Home Depot (although they may not be labelled correctly-you'll know them when you see them).

Schwartzkopf (I've also seen it spelled "Zwartkop") is the darkest Aeonium I've seen -- most of the hybrids have at least some green at the centers.

Like pirate_girl said, they need a LOT of light to keep that black color; every time I have tried to grow the Voodoo hybrid, the blackish-purple has faded to purplish-red.

'Zwartkop' is the correct & valid name of that dark one. See link below for an explanation of that naming (toward end of post).

Yes, Aeonium 'Zwartkop' is the darkest one & the one that will stay the darkest. All the hybrids I mentioned have this plant as one of their parents. The hybrids have a tendency to change color through the year, but return to the darker color (at whatever time of year they were dark before). The 3 hybrids I listed above are the ones that look huge!

Thanks all! Now I'll know what to look for, and yes, I went to HD today but didn't see any. I'll probably just wait for a cactus/succulent event in the future. I already have the small, skinny Zwartkop.
