It does look like an Aloe, doesn't it? It's actually a Bromeliad, Dyckia brevifolia.

I assumed it was an aloe because that is what it was labeled....("from the Aloe collection"). I picked it up at Lowe's...

Off to research...if you have any care advice, I would love to hear it!

Take it over to the Bromeliad forum - Stephania will like that... The Bromeliad forum is a very picture-loving group and Stephania has displayed some amazing pictures of the Dyckias ('Spinies' as he calls them) in his gigantic collection.

Ok...the red one has been ID'd.... XCryptbergia 'Red Burst'....thanks for the suggestion of taking it to the Bromeliad forum...they were very quick!
