What are the Basics of Succulent Propagation??

FluffyClou

Hi! I am new to succulents and cacti, and this forum. I have been reading about succulents and how to propagate them. My readings, however, has me confused even more (or maybe I need to keep reading
>I am just wondering, what are the basic rules for cutting, propagating, and replanting the succulent cuttings? Are there different ways to cut/propagate/replant different succulents? Do I have to plant dry and not water until roots formed (yes, I have followed this advice :))? I have read some articles that says we can stick the cutting in the soil and moist the soil - can I do this for leaf cuttings? Will it not cause the leaf to rot? How about for stem cuttings?
Should I keep my cuttings in the shade? How about after I plant my cuttings, do I need to keep them in the shade for a while? or does it even matter if they are in the shade or not?

Sorry if it's too much and sounds redundant! Am I even asking the right questions?

Thanks!
