Picked up a sad little stray

This guy was just propped up in a pot with VERY wet soil at a local nursery. The lady at the store said I could have it and see if I could revive it. The lower leaves are a little shriveled and it doesn't seem to have much as far as roots go. Should I put it in a pot with drier soil? or just keep it like it was?

Here's a top view. He really is a cool little guy if I can get him to live.

It's definitely some member of the crassula family. It's hard to tell right now because it has no real coloring.

I'd definitely give him a chance though; Put him in a pot with drier soil and wait a couple days to water him. Succulents are pretty resilient and he should hopefully sprout some more roots if you give him some care.
