I did a search for this here & couldn't find much so apologies if I'm repeating a previous post:
I live in zone 9b, and am away on the east coast half the year. I just came back to find 4 or 5 Opuntias fallen over, where it looks like an animal might have knocked them over. I did some research and read that they need to be pruned, but none of my other Opuntias have ever needed pruning, however these are newer and were planted by a landscaper. Before I prune them, I just want to know I'm doing the right thing. Also, 1) should I train them to grow upright? and 2) is it possible that they're getting too much water? thanks for any feedback!
